If you desire to uncover and peer into a student’s mathematical thinking, consider using WebAssign to making student learning visible. The degree of learning you can make visible to the student and the instructor can be described in terms of fidelity. There are two types of fidelity to consider: Cognitive fidelity and mathematical fidelity. Cognitive fidelity is seeing accurately what thoughts, concepts and connections occur in the mind while mathematical fidelity is a tools ability to represent mathematics accurately (symbolically, graphically, etc.).  WebAssign is a digital assessment tool equipped with the characteristics to make student learning visible at a high level of cognitive and mathematical fidelity.
